Nevada-based Algae Systems is operating a pilot-scale facility in Alabama that uses a "hydrothermal liquefaction" process to convert municipal sewage and algae into clean water, fertilizer and biofuel. "We think it is a really elegant solution," Algae Systems President Matt Atwood said.
