Minnesota sets EHR, eRx goals

Minnesota announced that all state hospitals and providers must implement EHRs by 2015 and has set aside $14 million to assist smaller practices with implementing the technology. Providers won't be able to submit claims on paper as of Jan. 15, 2009, and a single pharmacy benefits manager for all state employees and dependents will require e-prescriptions from providers by 2011. Officials say the measures could save the state $5 million annually.
