WHO names five "hotspots" for organ trafficking

The World Health Organization has identified China, Pakistan, Egypt, Colombia and the Philippines as organ trafficking hotspots. China is the top host country for organ transplants, and Pakistan is considered to be the second-largest organ trade area. An illegal kidney market has emerged in the Philippines, and new Web sites in Colombia claim to offer kidneys and livers within 90 days. Egypt currently has no laws regulating the legal recognition of brain death or transplantation.
