OPE manufacturers hurt as owners repair old mowers

Instead of buying new lawn mowers, many owners are repairing their old mowers, to the detriment of lawn equipment makers. Earnings for Briggs & Stratton dropped 97% in its fiscal fourth quarter, and the company is considering increasing prices on its equipment. "We have either implemented price increases or are in discussions to do so," said Briggs CEO John Shiely.
