Rescue of Fannie, Freddie may depend on debt rollover:

Fannie Mae's and Freddie Mac's chances of avoiding a federal rescue may hinge on their ability to repay a total of $223 billion of bonds at the end of the third quarter. Rolling over the maturing debt "is the single most important factor to their ability to remain liquid," said Moshe Orenbuch, a Credit Suisse analyst. "So far, they've been able to do that."
