Japan's KDDI awards LTE deals to Motorola, NEC

Japanese carrier KDDI has given contracts to Motorola and NEC to build an LTE-based network starting in December 2012. The country's second-largest wireless provider has budgeted about $5.3 billion for the 4G network. Market leader NTT DoCoMo plans to beat KDDI to the punch by debuting its LTE services in 2010.
