Scientists, engineers broaden skill sets with additional education

Scientists and engineers are enrolling in refresher courses or additional education programs to broaden their skill sets during the recession. "Technical expertise by itself is not sufficient, and that is more true now than it has ever been," said Bhaskar Pant, executive director of professional programs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's school of engineering. Some engineers have enrolled in MBA programs to bridge the gap between science and business disciplines.
