Taiwan proposes $3B to repair typhoon damage

Taiwan's Cabinet approved a three-year, $3 billion reconstruction budget to repair infrastructure damage from Typhoon Morakot that hit earlier this month, killing 500 people. The typhoon triggered landslides and flooding in remote mountain villages, causing more than $2 billion in property damage. The reconstruction budget still needs approval from the Taiwanese legislature to pass.
