Hawker Beechcraft opens talks with Machinists in Kansas

Kansas-based Hawker Beechcraft has entered into early negotiations with the Machinists union a year before the expiration of its labor contract. The two parties marked the beginning of the process this week during a ceremony in Andover, Kan. Hawker Beechcraft is looking to cut down on costs in the face of a business slowdown, which could mean relocating manufacturing to other states, noted CEO Bill Boisture.
