Officials advance online-learning initiatives in Georgia

Georgia's state school board approved the expansion of the Georgia Cyber Academy -- the state's first cyber charter school -- to include ninth grade. Other state officials pledged to investigate the state's mechanism for funding virtual schools. Some say the current system is inadequate, as it relies solely on state money that amounts to less than half the per-pupil spending of the state's traditional public schools and charter schools.
