BIM is a key part of sustainable building initiatives, firm says

Skanska's use of building information modeling is a significant part of its green-building projects and a key component of its "Deep Green" program, according to the firm. Among the benefits the company gains with BIM are improved waste-material management, better energy efficiency and enhanced facility management. "If we are able to fix the design in a virtual environment -- eliminating errors, checking schedules, materials -- then we are better able to complete the production without errors," said Tiina Koppinen, Skanska's business development director.
