Cable firms grow broadband subs by nearly 300,000 in Q2

U.S. cable companies increased the number of broadband subscribers they serve to 47.9 million during the second quarter, netting an increase of 296,000 subscribers in the quarter. The gains were led by Comcast's growth of 187,000 subscribers and net adds of 52,000 and 21,000 subscribers at Charter and Time Warner, respectively.
