Cisco, Inmarsat to offer telehealth service in remote locations

Inmarsat and Cisco have formed a partnership to offer a satellite-based telemedicine service to remote health care facilities. Cisco's TelePresence VX Clinical Assistant will use Inmarsat's global 3G-level satellite network to enable providers in locations without terrestrial telecommunications infrastructure to communicate with patients. Providers will also be able to collaborate with colleagues throughout the world and share data such as blood pressure readings and ultrasound results in real time.
