Conn., Md., Mass., R.I. get top scores for palliative care

Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island are the only states with effective strategies at work to increase access to and awareness of palliative care, according to the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. The states get top rankings because they have new laws that focus on using palliative care to improve patients' quality of life. The report gave Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi and Oklahoma the lowest scores for palliative care services and policies.
