FDA rule on gluten-free eases concern for those with celiac disease

An FDA requirement for food labeled "gluten-free" to contain only trace amounts of gluten is expected to make it easier for people with celiac disease to wade through a growing sea of gluten-free products. The previous lack of a standard meant those with the allergy had to pore over labels to try to determine whether food was safe. Food manufacturers have one year to comply with the rule, which had been in the works since 1999.
