As India falters, Southeast Asia follows

India's woes are resonating across Southeast Asia, with Indonesia's currency and stock market taking similar hits and Thailand entering a recession. Analysts say the growing ills are sparked or compounded by expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will soon scale back its bond buying. "Among the region's economies, Indonesia and India are bearing the brunt of the reversal of capital flows in anticipation of QE tapering," economists Stephen Schwartz, Weiwei Liu and George Xu of BBVA Research wrote in a report.
