Link between serum uric acid level and atrial fibrillation incidence

The association between serum uric acid (SUA) levels and atrial fibrillation (AF) is currently poorly known. The findings of this study suggest that elevated SUA levels are strongly associated with an increased incidence of AF in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus even after adjustment for multiple clinical risk factors for AF.
