Malware attacks spur new threat protection tools

A new segment of threat protection technology and tools aims to help enterprises fight malware-based attacks aimed at stealing financial data and intellectual property, IDC reports. The new tools, which IDC calls Specialized Threat Analysis and Protection, can be used on the network level and/or on the endpoint to scan traffic for irregularities. IDC notes that global demand for STAP tools could reach revenues of $1.17 billion in four years. "Organizations have quickly begun to realize that they need improved protection against targeted attacks," said IDC's John Grady.
