Ore. county first responders draw lessons from mall shooting

One lesson that Clackamas County, Ore., officials learned after a gunman opened fire at at a mall near Portland is that it was good to have dispatchers who were familiar with the layout, because they knew exactly where to send first responders. The county also discovered that its computer-aided dispatch system could not handle the big call load, and it will need a work-around for future incidents.
