South Korea business failures surge

The number of South Korean corporate bankruptcies in July jumped to 101 from 58 the previous month, the central bank reported. The total was the highest since January, but the bank attributed part of the rise to the fact the final two days of June fell on a weekend, making clearance of promissory notes defer to July.
