ATA: Auction plan tantamount to "slot confiscation"

In a letter to The Wall Street Journal, James May, president and CEO of the Air Transport Association, called the FAA's plans to auction prime landing slots "government intervention at its worst." May said the plan amounted to "slot confiscation" that contradicts "the tried and true market-based slot allocation system used around the world." In an accompanying letter, Larry Kellner, president and CEO of Continental Airlines, said the auction plan was "simply a money grab by our government and will do nothing to ease congestion."
