FCC orders end to file-blocking at Comcast

The FCC Wednesday ordered Comcast to cease its practice of blocking the transmission of large files to and from peer-to-peer file-sharing applications by its most active users, calling it "inconsistent with the concept of an open and accessible Internet." Comcast is exploring other ways to control traffic on its network, the company said, including a plan to slow the transmission of files to its most active users during busy periods.
