Consortium sought for rapid development of long-term airships

Pentagon and industry officials will meet early next month to discuss forming a consortium for the rapid development of unmanned, high-flying airships capable of monitoring battlefields for months at a time. The Defense Department reportedly wants to fast-track prototypes of the Long-Endurance Multi-Intelligence Vehicle using Other Transaction Authority, allowing it to bypass the normally cumbersome development process.
