Duncan: Biggest innovation grants will go to proven programs

A track record of success will be needed for states, districts and schools to gain the bulk of the $650 million in federal Investing in Innovation grants, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said Thursday. Duncan listed three levels of criteria for funding: Grants of up to $50 million will be used to expand proven programs; grants of up to $30 million will go to programs with potential in pilot form; and grants of up to $5 million will implement new programs.
