Study examines postpartum depression, effect on infant

About 20% of healthy, educated middle-class women in stable relationships reported depressive symptoms serious enough to warrant medical attention, an Israeli study found. Researchers said the numbers were important because postpartum depression can affect infant development, particularly fear response and social interaction.
