Tests show tiny cars have strong roofs

Micro- and mini-cars fared well in roof strength tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, with the Smart Fortwo receiving a "good" rating and four others receiving "acceptable" ratings. Because these cars weigh less, their roofs "don't have to work as hard to keep the structure around the occupants intact in a rollover," IIHS President Adrian Lund said.
