Faster chips could emerge with graphene thin films

IBM, Samsung Electronics and the U.S. military are funding continued R&D on using graphene as a thin-film material in semiconductors. While graphene has been used in batteries and touch screens, the highly conductive material wasn't considered practical for use in semiconductors until recent research at the University of Manchester in the U.K.
