Multivitamins at conception may help prevent preterm births

A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that 4.3% of women who took vitamins for eight or more weeks around the time of conception delivered preterm babies compared with 5.3% of women who didn't take the supplements. Researchers found that women in the vitamin group also had a lower risk of having small-for-gestational-age babies, but they noted that the links seen in the study applied only to normal-weight women.
