Voice recognition finally offers services to shout about

While not yet glitch-free, mobile voice-recognition technology has improved to a great extent, according to executives speaking at a Silicon Valley industry forum this week. Interactions have improved so that talking to a machine is equivalent to speaking to a 5- or 6-year-old child -- some meaning is understood, writes Robert J. Mullins.
