CIOs need to manage disruptions of next-generation IT apps

Chief information officers face the complex task of managing the disruptive IT applications known as SMAC: social, mobile, analytics and cloud. Nicholas Evans writes that three issues to keep in mind are to stay focused on the end user, to build a road map for integrating existing applications with these new tools and to develop a plan for operating across hybrid platforms and hybrid clouds. "The key issue for organizations over the next several years will be how to envision and design new applications and business processes to take advantage of these disruptive capabilities in powerful combinations," Evans writes.
