The FDA should start regulating e-cigarettes, just like other tobacco products, to protect the health of children and the country, writes Harold P. Wimmer, national president and CEO of the American Lung Association. The group is highly concerned with some companies' claims that e-cigarettes can help smokers quit, and is also worried that the products are being marketed to children, he writes. The agency should implement federal regulations that prohibit companies from making quit smoking claims until their products' safety and efficacy are proven, he writes.
