Nigerian farmers adopt new cocoa varieties for quicker yields

Nigerian cocoa farmers are beginning to use new varieties of the cocoa plant that mature more quickly and are more disease-resistant than the traditional crop variety. Nigeria is currently the fourth largest cocoa producer in the world, and the goal of the new plant distribution is to double the country's cocoa bean production in two years.
