Program, combo generic drug lower hypertension in pilot project

A regional Kaiser Permanente program that created a registry of patients with high blood pressure and specified a generic lisinopril-hydrochlorothiazide drug as first-line treatment resulted in 80% of more than 652,000 patients bringing their blood pressure under control. Free follow-up visits were scheduled with medical assistants two to four weeks after a medication adjustment.
