Anticipated China baby boom fails to materialize, disappointing investors

Expectations were high for a baby boom in China after the government eased its one-child policy, and investors piled in, buying up stocks that would benefit. But nine months in, only 3% of eligible couples have indicated an interest as the costs of raising a second child remain prohibitive.
