FDA clears monitor that warns of strokes via smartphone app

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved AliveCor's Heart Monitor, a smartphone-based system aimed at providing an early warning to potential stroke victims. The device attaches electrodes to an iPhone or Android handset, which can monitor for the most frequent form of cardiac arrhythmia.
