Verizon exec sees consensus on need to revamp telecom act

Policy differences aside, telecom industry stakeholders generally agree that the 1996 Telecommunications Act needs to be updated, Verizon Executive Vice President Craig Silliman told a tech conference Wednesday. "The need to modernize based on an Internet culture instead of the culture based [on] the 1934 act or the 1996 act is ultimately what is going to bring these disparate entities together to push for reform," he said.
