New soda guidelines critiqued

Critics say the American Beverage Association's new guidelines curbing soda sales should extend to high schools, but beverage companies say they will help combat growing child obesity problems by increasing the availability of lower-calorie and/or nutritious beverages. "Unlike younger children, who may need the guidance of an adult to help them make choices, parents tell us they believe high-school-aged children have the ability to make informed choices," an association statement said.
