Los Angeles schools mull suit to block takeover

Some Los Angeles Unified School District officials say they'll sue if a bill up for vote in the Legislature that would allow Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to take over local schools is ultimately signed into law. In an opinion issued late Monday the state's legislative counsel concluded the mayor's plan is probably unconstitutional.
