N.Y. human rights law covers trangender people, judge rules

A $3 million discrimination lawsuit brought by a transgender cook against an upscale restaurant in Westchester, N.Y., can proceed because the worker is covered under the state's human rights law, even though it does not specifically protect transgender people, a judge has ruled.
