Debate over country-of-origin laws continues

The vast majority of consumers want to know the country of origin of the imported food they buy, according to a recent survey. Food groups and groceries, however, have opposed labeling requirements in the new Farm Bill, calling them too cumbersome. FMI, for example, does not support the new bill. "We are not ready to tie our hands," says Tim Hammonds, FMI president.
