Dippin' Dots founder and chairman Curt D. Jones began thinking about how to get a smoother ice cream texture when he was eating homemade ice cream in the mid-1980s. Jones, who has two degrees in microbiology, researched freezing techniques and created crystals that are now Dippin' Dots Ice Cream. "Coming up with a solution to an idea can be key to starting a business," Jones said.
