Research: Vaccine prevents Alzheimer's-linked protein tangles

A novel vaccine has proven effective in preventing abnormal tau protein -- which has been linked to Alzheimer's disease -- from developing into damaging tangles in several key regions of the brain, a study reported. The vaccine induced the production of antibodies that prevented tau from forming tangles and causing motor coordination problems when tested on mice.
