EPA is urged to rethink proposed emissions rules for biomass

The National Alliance of Forest Owners and a bipartisan group of lawmakers are urging the Environmental Protection Agency to re-evaluate proposed emissions guidelines that would treat biomass-powered heating plants in the same way as coal- and oil-fed facilities. "Regulating biomass energy the same as fossil fuels ignores the scientific fact that biomass recycles carbon in the atmosphere, while fossil fuels add to it," said NAFO President David P. Tenny.
