Financial constraints threaten Georgia rural hospitals

Small rural hospitals in Georgia could be forced to close because of a combination of financial challenges, including state and federal budget cuts that would affect Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements. Murray Medical Center is among small hospitals that are increasingly dependent on commercial customers to offset losses from uninsured patients as well as excesses in Medicaid and Medicare services.
