Texas proposes new regulation on equine dentistry

The Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners has proposed a regulation that would prohibit unlicensed equine dentists from using power-operated tools in floating teeth of horses. Horse teeth floating using power equipment requires sedation, which requires equine dentists to be licensed. The board plans to decide on the proposed regulation by next month.
