Cloud computing is becoming more popular for businesses, but what happens when the cloud goes down? A recent Microsoft Office 365 outage affected e-mail and calendar functions, but so far, the service in general has been stable, Sholto Macpherson writes. When the service goes down, Office 365 users can still work offline on documents but might lose e-mail, voice and other data capabilities until it's restored. Backup servers can help, but they, too, are vulnerable.
