Daily Economic Indicator: World seeks reassurance from Fed's Bernanke

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will speak this week at an annual meeting of policymakers and academics in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Volatility in the stock markets and concerns about the global economy have put additional pressure on Mr. Bernanke and the Fed. "Markets are increasingly hoping there will be some signs that the Fed will come running to the rescue," said Paul Dales, an economist at Capital Economics.
