Fee examiners will keep an eye on bankruptcy cases

The Justice Department is trying to combat perceptions about the lucrative nature of bankruptcy proceedings by requiring additional disclosures and encouraging debtors to have someone monitor attorneys' fees. "All of us win if bankruptcy lawyers are paid through a transparent, market-driven system," said Clifford J. White III, who is in charge of the Justice Department unit that keeps tabs on bankruptcy cases.
