Gap's brighter colors, designer styles spur strong summer sales

Gap's turnaround efforts including adding more bright colors and designer styles paid off in the quarter ended Aug. 3, with 5% same-store sales growth, an 8% rise in revenue and earnings that came in at the high end of the company's guidance. The strong showing spurred the company to raise its earnings outlook for the year and increase its annual dividend by 33%.
