Ill. zoos prepare for crisis situation

This week, eight aquariums and zoos in Illinois, including the Lincoln Park Zoo, are taking part in a Zoo Animal Health Network exercise aimed at streamlining and clarifying communication between the facilities and government agencies in the event of a disaster. Supported by the USDA and facilitated through the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign veterinary college, the program outlines a standardized program for zoos to follow in the face of a disease outbreak, terrorist attack or natural disaster.
